Australia’s “most tattooed woman” has revealed a crazy detail about her body art as enthusiasts and industry heavyweights descend on Brisbane for the Australian Tattoo Expo.

Amber Luke, who calls herself the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, was among the stars who attended the Brisbane showcase on Saturday.

The event has been held in cities across Australia for the past 15 years, attracting around 60,000 people through its doors each year.

Luke, who calls herself White Dragon with Blue Eyes on her Instagram, became known for her prolific body art with 250 tattoos, along with numerous piercings and implants.

She had her eyes tattooed at the age of 22 – the excruciating process leaving her blind for weeks.

Speaking on the Apollo Show podcast earlier in July, Luke said the process was about “taking back something that was never mine to begin with”.

Luke revealed that he had recently returned from Brazil to have his eyelid repainted.

“I wanted to own it and say, ‘You know what? I may have been blind for three weeks, but it turned out to be a pretty good experience,” Luke told host Adam Manikis. “The way I saw him at the time, it depressed me for three weeks.

“I really wanted to make it completely separate from what it really was.”

She told the podcast that there were no complications and she was in no pain.

Luke explained that the process involved a one-millimeter syringe being injected into “two spots” directly into her eye socket.

Luke described the tattoo on her head as “the most intense, brutal pain of my life”. amberluke666/Instagram

“My eye is solid blue – if it’s done right, it doesn’t feel any pain,” she said.

Luke revealed that the first time her eye was tattooed, she was left in severe pain.

“It was the most intense, brutal pain of my life,” she said.

“I honestly felt like 10 pieces of glass (were rubbed) in my eye, for three weeks.

A spokesperson for Tattoo Expo said it was committed to supporting the tattoo industry and growing the community.

“It’s a great chance to get tattooed by the titans of the tattoo industry, make lasting connections and chat with the pioneers and up-and-comers of the tattoo community,” the spokesperson said.
