Front-row home on British Open charts for first time in 30 years for $1.95 million

For golf enthusiasts eager for an unparalleled view of the Open Championship, which began on Thursday, Blackrock House may be the place to be.

Priced at $1.95 million, this property is located right in the heart of Scotland’s famous Royal Troon Golf Club.

Hosting this year’s British Open, Royal Troon is one of Scotland’s premier links courses. An estimated 250,000 fans will gather to watch golf legends such as Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods.

However, the Kelly family may have the best seats in the house.

Blackrock House boasts a front row view of five major holes on the championship course.

Andrew Kelly, the homeowner, recounted his experiences, speaking to local news outlet the Hickory Record, which was the first to report on the listing.

“I was standing on that wall,” pointing to the concrete barrier that separates the property from the par-5 16th green. He vividly remembers the crowd’s reaction when Mickelson’s eagle putt failed in 2016.

“And watching them tee off on the 18th, too,” Kelly added, referring to the hole directly in front of the house. “It’s fantastic, you’re here and you have everything going on around you. You’re spoiled for choice, to be honest.”

Annabel Blackett, listing agent from Strutt & Parker’s National Country Home Department in the North and Scotland, described the sale as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

“The sale of Blackrock House is one of those rare occasions where you can safely say there is nothing else like it available in the world,” Blackett told The Post in a statement.

The semi-detached property, built before Royal Troon Golf Club existed, is situated between the second and 16th holes, just off the 18th tee, offering panoramic views of the course.

“From here, you can watch five holes from the comfort of your own home, and of course, you also have the club on your doorstep to play,” explained Blackett. “While the views are fantastic all year round – especially with the coastal waters in the distance – the position really shines when a championship as prestigious as The Open is in town.”

“This week, The Open is being held at Royal Troon for the 10th time, meaning you can watch stars like Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson walk away from different rooms at home – a claim unmatched anywhere else in the world “, she added.

Blackrock House, now split into two houses, has been owned by the Kellys for 30 years.

“This sale presents a rare opportunity for someone to own a piece of one of the most famous links courses in the country. It is no surprise that the launch of such a special house has generated considerable buzz and interest,” noted Blackett.

With an area of approximately 4,500 square meters, Blackrock House includes a kitchen, dining room, living room, office and conservatory. It features four bedrooms, including a first floor master suite with a dressing room.
